We operate a tight ship here at Golden State to deliver the fresh, healthy meal prep you deserve on a weekly basis. Here's the rundown:
Thursday
New Menu Drops
Pre-order opens every Thursday morning through Sunday at midnight with a new menu. You can order for pick up or delivery which happens the following Monday from 4-8 PM.
For delivery, just pay the 1 time deposit of $20 for the insulated bag and ice pack, then leave it on your porch and we'll swap it with your new order.

Pre-Orders Close
Sunday at midnight our pre-order menu turns off so we can get going on preparing your delicious meals. Remember, all pre-orders will be available for pickup or delivery on Monday's from 4-8pm.
Grab-N-Go is still available at our Royal Oak location anytime we're open!

The Basics
Let's cover some high lever stuff
Is this a subscription?
Nope. We're not trying to lock you in and hold you hostage eating our food. We trust that our meals speak for themselves and will have you logging in whenever you need us. This gives you the freedom to not have to worry about cancelling when you take a spontaneous vacation or go out of town. You have enough things to think about. Cancelling a subscription shouldn’t be one of them.
Am I getting one of those ingredient boxes or are these ready-to-eat meals?
Our meals are fully prepared, perfectly portioned, and ready to eat. You can eat it cold or heat it up, but either way, there is minimal labor involved. Everything is cooked fully and any reheating instructions are on every meal.
Does the menu change?
Yes. Our menus change weekly. We post a new menu every Thursday morning. You can pre order for Monday pick up or delivery. Online order is from Thursday morning until Sunday at midnight. But don't worry you can also drop in to our kitchen anytime we are open to grab a few meals from our grab n go cooler.
How do I register for an account to get started?

Can the meals be frozen?
Yes, some of our meals freeze really well. Use your best judgment when it comes to what you’d like to freeze. For example a salad: not recommended, but a chicken breast with broccoli reheats out of the freezer well. Just be conscious when freezing and transfer to a freezer safe container when possible.
How many days are the meals good for?
Enjoy your meals within 6 days of receiving them. They will be the freshest and most delicious during this time frame. We also suggest consuming any seafood meals and salads first for maximum enjoyment and nutritional benefit.

Where do you deliver?
We always growing. You can enter your zip code at the top of the page to confirm we serve your area. If we don’t serve your area, send us an email and ask us to add your neighborhood. We’ll see what we can do!
When do you deliver?
Deliveries occur on MONDAY between 4pm-8pm EST.
What is the deadline for ordering?
For Monday Delivery: Order by Sunday at midnight

Where can I receive a delivery?
We deliver to anywhere with a physical address so that means we can deliver to your home, gym, work, hotel, as long as we have the proper details and directions on your order. As to not disrupt delivery service or to avoid additional delivery fees, please ensure you have provided any codes to help our delivery partner access your community. These notes can be added when you place your order to ensure our drivers know where to leave your meals. We cannot deliver to a PO Box.
Do I have to be present for delivery?
Nope. As long as there is a safe place for your driver to leave your meals, then you have nothing to worry about.
Can I specify where to leave my meals?
Yes. Don’t forget to specify your delivery instructions (access codes, location to leave meals, etc) on the checkout page. If you checkout while signed into your account, your delivery notes will store on the checkout page week to week for easy ordering.
NOTE: If you live in a building that requires verbal confirmation or your physical presence for the driver to access your community, you MUST be home for delivery. We are not responsible for packages that are delivered to the correct address but are stolen due to inability to access your home/building. If your meals were delivered to your requested address and was then taken/stolen, Golden State Chef Co is not responsible for the theft and cannot provide refunds. That being said, we'll always do our best to remedy any displeasing situation.
How much does delivery cost?
Our delivery fee is $10 per delivery for all orders.
Can I pickup my order?
Yes, just select PICKUP at checkout. We’ll have your meals packed up in our cooler waiting for you to pickup. Meals ordered for PICKUP will be ready from 4-8pm on Monday's. And don't worry if you don't make it on your pick up day. We will hold your meals until you come in.
What do I do with my red bag and ice pack?
We hate wasted packaging and we do reuse our delivery bags and ice packs. Just leave it on the porch next time you order and we'll switch it out with your new order. No need to re-freeze the ice pack. Make sure to select the "BAG DEPOSIT" when checking out. This is a "ONE" time deposit that can be refunded if you ever want to stop delivering.

What are the portions?
Each meal is an individual serving for one person. Our meals typically have 4-6 oz of protein, 1/2 -1c of starch and a generous plant-based side.
Do you cater to speciality diets or those with food restrictions or allergies?
All of our meals are mainly dairy free, soy free and gluten free. We do like to add a wrap to chicken salads from time to time. Otherwise we do NOT do custom diet requests. We try to balance our menu so that is something for everyone.
Can I alter your meals or substitute proteins?
While we love offering options that our customers look forward to, we aren’t able to substitute or switch out ingredients or proteins in the meals you see on our menu.
Tell me about the packaging
Your meals are delivered in a Golden State Chef Co insulated bag packed with ice packs to keep it cold for 4 hours from packaging time. Our compostable meal containers are 100% plant-based, allergen free, and non-toxic. They are both oven* and microwave safe. The lids are made from PET plastics and are highly recyclable and have been studied significantly for many years, proving them to be the safest form of food grade plastics.
*Lids and dressing cups are NOT oven/microwave safe.
